Carat on a carrot!

What are the chances of finding a lost wedding ring after 16 years that too wrapped around a carrot? Pretty less! But there are lucky or unlucky few, who witness the most unbelievable and dramatic things in their lifetime.

One such person is a Swedish woman, Lena Paahlsson.

Lena Paahlsson and her husband Ola live on a farm near Mora in central Sweden with their family. It was like any other Christmas baking session for this family, back in 1995. Until Lena lost her wedding ring!
Lena used to wear a white gold band studded with seven small diamonds. She herself had designed the wedding ring. She had removed her ring and kept it on the kitchen counter. Little did she know that she is going to soon, lose it.

A hysterical search began soon after they realised that the wedding ring is missing. The tiles of the floor were also removed during renovations with the hope of finding the ring. But they just couldn’t find it. And ultimately Lena lost all hope of finding her precious wedding ring.

Cut-to 16 years later! Paahlsson was gathering carrots from the family vegetable farm. She was about to throw away a finger-sized carrot until she spotted something weird growing around it. A close look at it revealed that it was her lost white gold and diamond wedding ring!

“Our daughter Anna was at home at the time and she heard an almighty scream from the garden,” Ola Paahlsson said explaining his wife’s first reaction after finding the ring. The ring no longer fits her but it is in perfect condition and Lena can’t wait to resize it to be able to wear it again. She said, “Now that I have found the ring again, I want to be able to use it”. The couple thinks that the ring could have been lost in vegetable peelings that were turned into compost and from there it found its way to the farm.
