Sparkling Jewellery, Perfect for 21st Birthday

21st birthday is called as ‘coming of age’. Many celebrate this birthday with much fanfare as it marks the transition of one becoming an adult. It means that a person will have more freedom along with more responsibilities and lesser restrictions. Even the law considers a person as a ‘legal adult’ and hence allows one to do things which were not allowed before 21!

The most common family tradition followed to celebrate this occasion is elders giving a piece of jewellery to their daughter on their 21st birthday. This jewellery forms the part of heirloom and is passed on to generations to come, along with buying a new one.

Diamonds and pearls are a favourite for the 21st birthday! But it also depends on your budget. Necklace seems to be the ideal choice as a gift. It could be an elaborate eternity necklace or a pendant necklace. If you want to give something that she can wear everyday then a pendant necklace is perfect. Present her with a delicate gold chain and select a diamond and gold pendant that suits her personality. Pendant could be in the design of her initial or you can also include her birthstone. Other popular pendant designs include heart, angel, butterfly and drop.

Another great gift idea is to give a pair earrings. There is a wide range of earrings design, right from the simple ones to the more sophisticated ones. For someone who has a very simple taste in jewellery would appreciate diamond/gold stud earrings. The shape could be round or square, doesn’t matter! But if you are looking at giving something that she can wear on formal events and special occasions then chandelier earrings are a great option.

Give her something that will make her 21st birthday the most memorable and special one!

Carat on a carrot!

What are the chances of finding a lost wedding ring after 16 years that too wrapped around a carrot? Pretty less! But there are lucky or unlucky few, who witness the most unbelievable and dramatic things in their lifetime.

One such person is a Swedish woman, Lena Paahlsson.

Lena Paahlsson and her husband Ola live on a farm near Mora in central Sweden with their family. It was like any other Christmas baking session for this family, back in 1995. Until Lena lost her wedding ring!
Lena used to wear a white gold band studded with seven small diamonds. She herself had designed the wedding ring. She had removed her ring and kept it on the kitchen counter. Little did she know that she is going to soon, lose it.

A hysterical search began soon after they realised that the wedding ring is missing. The tiles of the floor were also removed during renovations with the hope of finding the ring. But they just couldn’t find it. And ultimately Lena lost all hope of finding her precious wedding ring.

Cut-to 16 years later! Paahlsson was gathering carrots from the family vegetable farm. She was about to throw away a finger-sized carrot until she spotted something weird growing around it. A close look at it revealed that it was her lost white gold and diamond wedding ring!

“Our daughter Anna was at home at the time and she heard an almighty scream from the garden,” Ola Paahlsson said explaining his wife’s first reaction after finding the ring. The ring no longer fits her but it is in perfect condition and Lena can’t wait to resize it to be able to wear it again. She said, “Now that I have found the ring again, I want to be able to use it”. The couple thinks that the ring could have been lost in vegetable peelings that were turned into compost and from there it found its way to the farm.

Jewellery box, your jewellery’s safety den

Jewellery is something that makes one look beautiful, elegant and classy. But what is one horror attached to jewellery? Everyone will agree that the biggest horror attached to jewellery is losing it or breaking it.
I have lost the count of friends who have lost their one earring, a pendant, stone in the necklace due to their shabby way of storing. Some just forget their ring near the sink which eventually gets washed out in the drainage. And there are those who keep their precious jewellery stacked like the spring joker is trapped in the toy box!

If you willingly spend money on buying luxurious gems and jewels then isn’t it obvious that you need to maintain them properly. And jewellery box is the best way to keep your beautiful accessories safe.

There are several types of jewellery box that one can get. The first type is the sitting jewellery box, which has a lid that opens up. You get these boxes in several sizes. And the other type of box is the one that stands upright and has either doors that open out or it has sliding drawers. The material used to make these boxes also varies such as wood, metal, plastic, glass, aluminium. The least expensive ones are made of cardboard.

If you want to give your jewellery a really special treatment then buy gemstone studded box. Gemstones jewellery boxes can have real precious stones like emeralds, rubies, turquoise, diamonds studded on them. Or if you want a more affordable version then there are boxes that have artificial stones.

The regal and royal appearance gives these gemstone boxes an edge over the ordinary boxes. It also makes for an amazing gift for women on special occasions such as anniversary, birthdays, and wedding.

Meaningful engraved jewellery

The love season is on and numerous hearts are waiting to tell and be told each other’s sweet secrets. Easier said than done with love it’s no different. At the least, you can air a message for your beloved, via media. But why let the whole world know? Conveying it to your beloved one, in a very special way, should be enough. There can be nothing better than words to express love but, mind you, jewellery gives them a tough competition. So, is there a way to express love, respect or gratitude where words and jewellery have an equal role to play? Yes, of course there is. Engraved Jewellery is the answer.

Initially created to be an adornment, these days jewellery can also work as a messenger. Jewellery like rings, pairs of earrings, bracelets and pendants can be engraved with special messages, names or symbols that express your feelings for the one to be gifted. And why does it have to be just for expressing love or gratitude? Wearing jewellery engraved with personalised messages, inspirational sayings and motivational symbols greatly distinguishes one’s personality. Engravings have replaced precious gems, thus enhancing the beauty and meaning of jewellery.

Besides being modern and stylish, engraved jewellery can also tell you if your ornament is well-constructed and made of authentic metals. For instance, if a vendor is willing to engrave the jewellery, then it means the ornament is authentically created. And if a vendor is reluctant to do so, it can signal you of the unapparent flaws in the making. Usually, the walls of jewellery like lockets are thinned out to reduce the amount of precious metals like gold and silver used in the construction.

Talking about metals, the ideal ones for engraving are platinum, tungsten and titanium. But obviously they don’t offer the sleek appeal of gold and silver, which follow them due to increased fragility quotient. The best way to have both strength and shine among engraved jewellery is to select a strong metal and plate it with gold or silver. Engraved jewellery is a great option, as it gives you the freedom of designing ornaments your way, along with the flexibility of choosing font style, size and colour.

Gift Jewellery This Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is around the corner! Turn on the radio and you would hear Savage Garden humming, ‘Truly Madly Deeply’. Go on further and you will hear George Benson crooning ‘Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You’! It’s that time of the year when heart shape balloons carelessly float in the air, when the display of shops is splashed with red, when at every corner you would find cute teddy bears inviting you!

And it is also the time of the year when people buy gifts for their loved ones that represent their love, commitment and concern towards their partners.

If you have given him/her pounds of chocolates, a dozens of cards, millions of flowers and bunch of teddy bears then how about jewellery this year?

Many women prefer something that they can keep with them all the time like a constant reminder of the beautiful relationship. So what better than jewellery which they can wear everyday!

While buying jewellery for Valentine’s Day, it is not necessary that you empty your pocket in a day. Your women would appreciate even a simple piece of jewellery as for her the thought matters. So buy her a beautiful yellow/white gold pendant necklace. The pendant could be in the shape of hearts, flowers, padlocks and keys. If conventional designs is not the way to go, as your partner has an unconventional taste in jewellery then buy an owl shaped pendant, angel wings or something more quirky for her.

If you want to appear more thoughtful then maybe go for something that matches the jewellery collection that she possesses. For instance, if she has a ruby pendant that she wears often then try to find earrings or a bracelet to complement.

So make this Valentine’s Day special by presenting your special someone a lovely piece of jewellery!

If you are looking for the right pair of diamond earrings for a night-out at a club then hoops are the one you should go for. They come in various materials and size. Select the diameter of the hoop as per your comfort and clothes.  Large hoop diamond earrings are perfect if you are going to sport a funky style and if you are going to dress conservatively then smaller hoops will add the required oomph.
